Jefferson City, Missouri

When I asked Lauren and Blake about their dream engagement session, they mentioned wanting something classic that would match their neutral wedding decor, which is made of blacks and greys. As we brainstormed ideas, we landed on a neutral yet versatile location in Jefferson City - the Missouri Capitol.

Jefferson City MO weather tends to be unpredictable, and while there was a chance of rain in the forecast, Lauren and Blake decided to test the waters and proceed with a session in Jefferson City. And we got lucky! There was a short rainfall during their outfit change.

I am so excited about Lauren and Blake’s wedding day this fall! Below, you’ll find more about this sweet couple and their love story told by Lauren:

What’s your love story?

“Blake and I met in high school in Linn. I was a freshman and Blake was a junior. We have been together for 8 years and I’ve been wanting our proposal to happen for a while now :) For the past few months, every time Blake and I would ‘go-out’ or do something different from our regular date nights… I would tell myself “okay, this is it. He is going to propose”… but that wasn’t Blake’s plan. Instead, on November 17th, 2023, Blake wanted to go look for deer on county roads near my family farm before heading to Friendsgiving that night (that was his excuse anyway). As we are pulling into the driveway of the farm, I see a photographer by the lake. I ask Blake “what are you doing?”. And he just smiles. Long story short, the photographer was able to capture our proposal on the lake dock. Everything about it was perfect!”

What are your favorite things to do as a couple?

“Honestly, I love just being in the presence of Blake. Whether we are at home, running errands, or hanging around family and friends, I am happy. That’s probably my favorite thing to do with him.”

What are your favorite things about each other?

“There are many aspects of Blake that are my favorite, but the fact that I can be who I am around him is my favorite. At times, we catch each other acting like one another and we just laugh- I love that about us.”
